How this site calculates everything

Positions

The Moon's apparent geocentric longitude comes from a truncated lunar theory (Meeus, chapter 47) carrying the dominant periodic terms; the Sun's from standard low-precision solar coordinates. The other grahas come from JPL's Keplerian element set for approximate planetary positions, valid 1800–2050. Rahu is the mean lunar node and Ketu is exactly opposite it.

All positions are converted to the sidereal zodiac using the Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa, the Indian national standard. Results agree with published ephemerides to within a few arcminutes — far more precision than a rashi or nakshatra assignment needs.

Rashifal

Daily readings are read from the Moon's house counted from each rashi (Chandra gochar), sampled at local noon in the market timezone: Asia/Kathmandu for Nepali, Asia/Kolkata for Hindi and English. Classical gochar treats houses 1, 3, 6, 7, 10 and 11 as favourable for the Moon and the 8th, Chandrashtama, as the most difficult.

Weekly and monthly readings use the Sun's house instead, because the Sun changes rashi about once a month. Yearly readings use Jupiter's, because Jupiter changes rashi about once a year, and add a month-by-month outlook from the Sun.

Each life domain is scored from where the transit falls relative to that domain's own bhava, so love, career, money and health do not move together. The Moon's nakshatra lord adds a layer that changes roughly daily.

Panchang

Tithi is the Moon's elongation from the Sun in twelve-degree steps; yoga is their combined sidereal longitude in 27 divisions; karana is half a tithi. Rise and set times use the standard NOAA solar-position algorithm with a -0.833° horizon for refraction and semidiameter. The five limbs are read at sunrise, which is the traditional start of the day, so a panchang for the same calendar date can differ between cities.

Rahu Kaal, Yamaganda and Gulika are the standard eighth-parts of the daylight period selected by weekday. Abhijit is the eighth of fifteen muhurtas. Choghadiya follows the fixed seven-name cycle with the weekday-determined starting slot.

Kundali and matching

The lagna is derived from local sidereal time and the observer's latitude, then converted to the sidereal zodiac. Houses use the whole-sign system standard across India and Nepal. Vimshottari dasha starts from the Moon's nakshatra lord with the balance set by the Moon's position within that nakshatra.

Ashtakoota Gun Milan follows the classical rules exactly for Varna, Tara, Gana, Bhakoot, Nadi and Graha Maitri. Vashya and Yoni use a reduced matrix — identical group scores full marks, a traditional mortal-enemy pair scores zero, everything else scores the neutral value — because the full published matrices differ between authorities. We would rather say so than present one authority's table as the whole tradition.

What is interpretation

The positions are astronomy and can be verified. The meanings assigned to them are a tradition of interpretation. We keep the two visibly separate: every reading prints its inputs, and the prose is clearly the part that is being read into them.
