What is Nadi Dosha?
Nadi dosha occurs when both people's birth nakshatras fall in the same nadi — Adi, Madhya or Antya. It costs all eight points of the Nadi koota, the largest single weight in the 36-point Ashtakoota scheme. The three nadis correspond loosely to Vata, Pitta and Kapha in Ayurveda.

How nadi is assigned
Each of the 27 nakshatras belongs to one of three nadis in a repeating pattern, nine to each. Because the assignment is by nakshatra rather than rashi, two people can share a rashi and have different nadis — or have different rashis and share a nadi.
The traditional concern is constitutional rather than temperamental: sharing a nadi is read as an excess of the same type, and the classical texts connect it to difficulty with children and with health in a marriage.
The recognised exceptions
Several are widely accepted: the same nakshatra with different padas, the same nakshatra with different moon rashis, or the same rashi lord. How strictly the dosha is applied varies a great deal by region and by family — worth knowing what the calculation says, then discussing it within the tradition you actually follow.
