How it is observed
Kojagrat Purnima is the full moon after Vijaya Dashami, when the goddess Lakshmi is worshipped. Its name comes from 'ko jagarti', 'who is awake?', from the tradition that Lakshmi visits those keeping vigil that night.
In Nepal it closes Dashain: families worship Lakshmi and stay awake through the night playing cards or singing, and tika visits end. In India, people keep kheer out in the moonlight to eat the next morning, and Bengal and Odisha hold Kojagari Lakshmi Puja.
