How it is observed
Fulpati is the seventh day of Dashain in Nepal, when sacred flowers, leaves and plants (phulpati) are brought into homes as a symbol of the goddess. The name means 'flowers and leaves'.
A traditional bundle of phulpati is carried from Gorkha to Kathmandu and received at Hanuman Dhoka with a ceremonial procession and gun salute. Households place their own phulpati, often including banana stalk, jamara and sugarcane, beside the kalash.
