Taurus Rashi

Vrishabha holds. A fixed earth rashi ruled by Shukra, it accumulates — money, comfort, loyalties, grudges — and does not easily let go of any of them. Vrishabha — known in English as Taurus — is the sidereal zodiac sign of the Bull, ruled by Shukra (Venus). It is a earth (prithvi) rashi of fixed (sthira) quality: in Vedic astrology that pair describes how a sign begins things, holds them, or adapts to them.

In the sidereal zodiac the Sun passes through Vrishabha from roughly 15 May to 14 June. Western astrology uses the tropical zodiac, where Taurus runs from 20 April – 20 May. The two differ by about 24 degrees — the ayanamsa — which is why your Vedic rashi is usually the sign before your Western one.
