How it is observed

Laxmi Puja is the third and main day of Tihar in Nepal, when the goddess Laxmi is worshipped. The morning is Gai Tihar, when cows are honoured.

Cows receive tika, garlands and food in the morning. In the evening families mark a path of Laxmi's footprints from the door to the puja room, light diyo and candles and worship Laxmi, and groups begin going door to door singing Bhailo and Deusi.
